Project Accounting Specialist
Job Description
Everstaff is seeking a Billing & Accounting Specialist to join a growing, project-based professional services organization in Columbus, Ohio. This role plays a key part in supporting both project financial operations and overall accounting functions within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in project-based billing environments, strong accounting fundamentals, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of accuracy and organization.

Pay: $30-$33/hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Full-time, in-office position

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Billing & Financial Tracking
- Prepare and process recurring invoices based on project progress and contractual terms
- Monitor project budgets, billing milestones, and financial performance
- Review agreements and pricing structures to ensure accurate billing practices
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review project financials and billing details
- Set up and maintain project records within accounting systems
- Analyze billing and project data to support reporting and decision-making
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain general ledger activity and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts
- Support accounts receivable processes, including aging review and collections follow-up
Compliance & Reporting
- Assist with tax-related filings and financial documentation
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
- Support the preparation of internal financial reports and ad hoc requests
Collaboration & Administrative Support
- Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding billing, budgets, and financial updates
- Provide reporting and insights to support project and operational teams
- Assist with cross-functional initiatives and special projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience in accounting and/or project-based billing
- Experience within a project-driven industry (e.g., construction, engineering, or similar) preferred
- Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems; experience with project-based platforms is a plus
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office tools
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
