Bookkeeper
Job Description
We are searching for a Bookkeeper for our client in Hamilton to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of our growing transportation company. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing company accounts, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing accounting processes within a small to mid-sized business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping functions including recording financial transactions and maintaining accurate general ledger records.
- Utilize QuickBooks to track financial activity, manage company accounts, and maintain organized accounting records.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable including vendor payments, invoicing, and collections.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and financial statements on a regular basis.
- Prepare and review financial reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
- Track company expenses and ensure proper documentation and categorization of transactions.
- Manage billing and invoicing for transportation services and monitor outstanding receivables.
- Assist with payroll coordination and maintain accurate payroll-related records.
- Work with external accountants to support month-end, year-end, and tax preparation processes.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records and documentation.
- Monitor company budgets and assist leadership with financial planning and reporting.
Qualifications
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management preferred.
- Strong experience using QuickBooks for financial tracking and reporting.
- Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other office software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple financial responsibilities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working in transportation, logistics, or a small business accounting environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with managing financial reporting for growing companies.
