Job Description

We are searching for an Associate Attorney to join our client, supporting their Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Coverage litigation team in Southfield, MI. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a motivated attorney to gain hands-on in-house litigation experience while working closely with claims professionals and senior counsel.

Position Details
  • Salary: $100,000-$110,000
  • Hybrid – 1 day a week remote
  • Direct Hire Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate PIP and Coverage litigation matters, including medical documentation, billing records, and coverage issues.
  • Provide legal analysis and support to claims professionals regarding litigation strategy, statutory requirements, and risk assessment.
  • Prepare and respond to arbitration demands, pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Assist with arbitration submissions and Rule 35 applications for dismissal.
  • Participate in Forthright arbitrations, motion hearings, EUOs, and depositions.
  • Support settlement negotiations and resolution of claims.
  • Maintain accurate case files, documentation, and reporting in accordance with company standards.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, outside counsel, and medical providers.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Michigan State Bar and in good standing (or pending admission).
  • Internship, clerkship, or early-career experience involving litigation, insurance defense, or regulatory work preferred.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, negotiation, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in litigation, insurance law, and/or personal injury protection matters.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and follow guidance from senior counsel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research tools; ability to learn internal systems quickly.
