Position Overview:
The Chemical Process Engineer will provide technical expertise to support operations at our facilities. This role involves troubleshooting existing processes, optimizing efficiency, and training team members as required. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate closely with the EHS Manager to ensure all operations comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily plant operations to confirm safe and efficient production of quality products.
- Offer engineering assistance for production and maintenance initiatives.
- Conduct technical evaluations to minimize equipment downtime and operational disruptions.
- Identify, assess, and implement process improvements for enhanced plant performance.
- Develop and maintain operating procedures while providing employee training and guidance.
- Diagnose and resolve operational challenges to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Perform root cause analyses for process disturbances and safety events.
- Review and develop engineering designs, P&IDs, and other technical documents to support proper equipment functionality.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date plant and process documentation.
- Work with the EHS Manager to ensure compliance when implementing process modifications.
- Define technical specifications for equipment procurement.
- Adhere to all established safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Undertake special assignments or projects as directed by management.
- Participate in safety investigations, plant inspections, and committees as required.
- Prepare technical reports on plant operations, equipment efficiency, and overall performance.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of two years of experience in chemical engineering, preferably in the chlor-alkali industry.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with employees and leadership.
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical documents, financial reports, and legal materials.
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment in an engineering capacity.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to develop mathematical models for process evaluation and improvement.
