Cost Accountant

Everstaff is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant for a well-established manufacturing company in the Stow area to support its accounting and inventory operations.

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the company’s cost accounting system, analyzing variances, supporting inventory management processes, and assisting with month-end close and related financial activities. This role requires a hands-on accounting professional with strong analytical skills and a background in manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain cost accounting systems and assist with inventory management processes

• Maintain and update standard costs and perform standard cost roll-ups

• Develop estimated costs for new projects and track Work-In-Process (WIP) activity

• Close work orders, review job costs, and analyze material and labor variances (price, usage, rate, efficiency)

• Investigate scrap, rework, and outside processing variances

• Support month-end close, including journal entries, inventory valuation, and related reporting

• Calculate annual labor and overhead rates

• Create and maintain fixed asset records

• Represent the Accounting department in cross-functional meetings as needed

• Provide leadership and support to accounting staff in the absence of management

• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by leadership

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

• 5–7 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting

• Solid understanding of GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and ERP systems (experience with MAS500 or similar ERP preferred)

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under minimal supervision

• High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality

• Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
