Position Overview
The Director, Finance Business Systems plays an integral leadership role within the IT department, reporting directly to the Managing Director of Business Systems. This position is responsible for driving the continuous optimization, analysis, data governance, interoperability, and lifecycle management of systems that support financial operations. The Director will oversee the administration, enhancements, and user support of a portfolio of financial systems, ensuring they effectively meet the needs of the expansive financial operations.
Core Responsibilities

Transformation and Implementation
  • Act as the primary expert for Oracle NetSuite (core accounting, budgeting, and planning), Investment Management platforms (e.g., public market transactions, alternative investments, fund management), and related financial systems throughout their design, deployment, and continued use.
  • Partner with Program and Project Management teams to guide finance system implementations, ensuring that scope, timeline, and resources align with business objectives and lead to successful outcomes.
  • Oversee the gathering and refinement of finance system requirements, ensuring they accurately reflect the needs of Finance stakeholders and are effectively translated into system configurations by technical teams.
  • Support the organization in managing training and change management efforts throughout system rollouts and upgrades.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new finance software solutions, assisting in the development of requirements, drafting RFPs, and facilitating the selection process.
  • Take the lead in post-implementation support and training to foster user adoption and maximize the effectiveness of system configurations.
Ongoing Support and Optimization
  • Own the optimization, configuration, administration, and maintenance of the  entire suite of financial systems, ensuring that all systems work seamlessly together and operate efficiently.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Finance Department to understand evolving needs and provide system solutions that align with strategic goals.
  • Oversee the complete finance system lifecycle, from design and development to testing, updates, and ongoing enhancements, ensuring that all work adheres to best practices in system development and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with IT Solutions Architects to design and implement technological solutions that address complex business problems.
  • Lead the creation and execution of Finance technology initiatives, driving innovation to meet shifting business requirements.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained for system designs, use cases, process flows, enhancements, and modifications, providing clarity and transparency.
Qualifications
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years managing or implementing enterprise-level financial systems. Experience within consulting or in a non-profit organization is desirable.
Skills, Knowledge, & Competencies
  • Extensive experience with Oracle NetSuite and finance-specific business processes.
  • Familiarity with Investment Management SaaS solutions such as Clearwater Analytics, Addepar, or SS&C Geneva Accord is a bonus.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with a comprehensive understanding of core finance, accounting, and investment operations.
  • Proven experience in project management, with a track record of successfully managing complex system implementations.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions, address challenges, generate solutions, and drive improvements in business processes.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to transform business needs into actionable technical solutions.
  • Experience in managing, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong follow-up capabilities, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Experience with enterprise CRM, Data Warehousing, and Business Process Automation is a plus.
