IT Security Specialist
Job Description
EverStaff is seeking a skilled IT Security Specialist to to join a prominent client we have in Pittsburgh and ensure the security of our organization's computer systems and networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and techniques, as well as practical experience in implementing and maintaining security measures. The IT Security Specialist will work closely with IT teams to identify security vulnerabilities, develop security policies and procedures, and respond to security incidents.

Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and data.
- Monitor network traffic for security breaches and investigate violations when they occur.
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential risks and weaknesses.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Install, configure, and maintain security software, such as firewalls, antivirus programs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure that security measures are integrated into the design and implementation of new systems and applications.
- Respond to security incidents, including conducting forensic investigations and implementing remediation measures.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
- Educate staff on cybersecurity best practices and raise awareness about security risks.
- Provide guidance and support to IT teams and other stakeholders on security-related matters.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or other relevant certifications preferred.
- Proven experience in IT security, including risk assessment, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Strong understanding of network security protocols, encryption techniques, and security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
- Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address security issues effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS) is a plus.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of cybersecurity.
