IT Specialist
Location: Port Clinton, OH 43452

Job Summary
The IT Specialist is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the hospital’s information systems and related processes. This role ensures that system users receive comprehensive support and training while maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Hardware and Software Management:
    • Install and configure hardware and software, including PCs, printers, scanners, and related peripherals.
    • Deploy updates, patches, and fixes for desktop software.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide timely and effective support for hardware and software issues.
    • Work directly with system users to resolve equipment and application-related problems.
    • Handle incoming service desk calls, resolving or escalating them as necessary.
    • Maintain real-time updates in service desk software for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • System Administration:
    • Perform daily tasks necessary for the functioning of mainframe systems, Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and specialty service network servers.
    • Collaborate with system users to analyze current procedures, identify issues, and implement solutions to meet specific output requirements.
  • Training and Documentation:
    • Conduct initial and ongoing training programs for hospital personnel on hardware and software systems.
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and instructions for current and future system applications.
  • Application and Telecommunications Support:
    • Install, maintain, and support applications like Order Communications (OC), Radiology Information System (RIS), and IMS (Image Document Scanning).
    • Provide training and troubleshooting support for these applications.
    • Support telecommunications systems as required.
  • Compliance and Confidentiality:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Joint Commission standards.
    • Protect the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
    • Maintain the confidentiality of hospital business affairs and customer information.
  • Corporate Standards:
    • Adhere to corporate compliance policies, seeking guidance and training when needed.
    • Report any violations according to established standards.
  • Workplace Etiquette:
    • Report to work on time and adhere to scheduled break times.
    • Minimize personal conversations and telephone use during work hours.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Primarily local travel during business hours, with occasional out-of-area or overnight travel as needed.
  • Other Duties:
    • Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.
 Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate’s degree in Information Systems or a related field (relevant work experience may substitute for education).
  • 1+ year of basic computer support experience in a corporate environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability to changing needs and requirements.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex computer issues.
  • Ability to train staff with varying levels of technical expertise.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field.
  • Familiarity with hospital operations is highly desirable.

  • CompTIA A+
  • Microsoft Desktop Support Technician
  • MCSA: Windows 8
