Job Description

Job Title: Production Supervisor
Shift:
8p-6a Mon-Thurs (OT on Sunday as needed)
Pay Rate: $70,000/yr. - $80,000/yr.
Job Summary
The Production Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities of machine operators, material handlers, and assigned temporary staff. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production while maintaining equipment performance and adherence to company policies and procedures. The Supervisor is responsible for interpreting specifications and job orders, assigning duties, monitoring output, and driving continuous improvement across the department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Work under the general supervision of the Plant Manager.
- Supervise machine operators, material handlers, and temporary workers to ensure production goals are met.
- Interpret and communicate company policies, safety regulations, and job specifications to staff.
- Assign work based on specifications, blueprints, and production orders.
- Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality processes.
- Analyze and resolve daily production issues; assist workers in troubleshooting problems.
- Motivate employees to achieve production targets and maintain high-quality standards.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Perform and understand the tasks carried out by supervised employees to ensure accurate oversight.
- Conduct regular quality checks on work performed.
- Verify materials meet specifications before and after processing.
- Address and help resolve employee concerns or grievances.
- Select the proper inspection devices based on job requirements.
- Conduct written and verbal performance evaluations as needed.
- Recommend or initiate personnel actions, including promotions, transfers, discipline, and terminations.
Other Duties
- Train new employees on procedures, equipment use, and safety practices.
- Estimate material usage and inspect incoming materials.
- Collaborate with other supervisors to coordinate department activities.
- Participate in employee committees and support department initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience with powered industrial trucks and crane operations.
- Strong knowledge of production methods, materials, equipment, tools, and safety practices.
- Ability to instruct and supervise subordinates effectively and safely.
- Ability to solve daily production problems and follow detailed oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, orders, and specifications.
- Ability to calculate material usage efficiently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and 6S methodology.
