Insurance Defense Paralegal
Job Description
As an Insurance Defense Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys in managing a diverse caseload of insurance defense/torts matters. You will assist in preparing legal documents, conducting research, organizing case files, and communicating with clients, experts, and opposing counsel. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to grow their career.
- Direct hire with firm
- $80 - $85k base salary
- Starts fully onsite. Eligible for hybrid after 1 year
- Full benefits - medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO
- Extremely low turnover firm and very well established.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and file legal documents, including motions, pleadings, discovery, and correspondence.
- Assist in the preparation for depositions, hearings, and trials, including organizing exhibits and witness lists.
- Manage case files and ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and timely.
- Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations related to insurance defense.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and experts to gather information and schedule meetings.
- Prepare discovery responses and assist in the preparation of deposition summaries.
- Review and summarize medical records, insurance policies, and other relevant documents.
- Assist in trial preparation, including the preparation of trial notebooks and exhibit organization.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a paralegal, in insurance defense or litigation.
- Associate’s degree or paralegal certification from an accredited institution (preferred).
- Must be familiar with billing times.
- Strong knowledge of insurance defense law, court rules, and legal terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
