Job Description

We are searching for a Legal Assistant to provide vital support to the Business team for our client in Minneapolis! Legal Assistants play a crucial role in assisting attorneys by handling administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:
  • Skillfully provide proactive administrative support to assigned attorneys and team members within the Business Practice Group at our Minneapolis location.
  • Edit and meticulously proofread complex documents, actively identifying and communicating any relevant discrepancies or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with attorneys and legal team members regarding project status, requirements, and transaction updates.
  • Collaborate with legal team members and accounting to gather necessary cost and time information for closings.
  • Support the billing process, including initial review and comments on Billing Information Memos (BIMs), editing BIMs, generating and updating reports, preparing correspondence, and addressing client and attorney inquiries.
  • Independently handle administrative tasks such as proofreading, editing, and submitting attorney time entries, managing Continuing Legal Education credits, and tracking reimbursements.
  • Prepare and review correspondence and memoranda according to firm standards.
  • Demonstrate exceptional client service in all communications, both verbal and written.
  • Exhibit keen attention to detail and proficiency in numerical tasks.
  • Anticipate and proactively address necessary tasks and projects.
  • Prioritize work effectively, responding to requests promptly with a sense of urgency.
  • Manage multiple priorities with flexibility.
  • Monitor and communicate deadlines to the legal team as needed.
  • Assist in managing client contacts, emails, documents, and mail.
  • May input time entries into billing management software.
Requirements:
  • Strongly preferred: 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant.
  • Proficient command of the English language and standard grammar rules.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; willingness to maintain technical skills and learn new software through internal training programs.
