Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Legal Assistant for our client in Minneapolis. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to the attorneys and paralegals, contributing to the smooth operation of the legal practice.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, organizing files, and drafting correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research using various resources to support attorneys in case preparation, including statutes, regulations, and legal articles.
  • Prepare and format legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, contracts, and agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to schedule meetings, gather information, and provide updates on case status, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain case files and databases, tracking deadlines, court appearances, and document filings to ensure cases progress smoothly and deadlines are met.
  • Assist with the preparation, filing, and service of legal documents with courts and regulatory agencies, adhering to applicable rules and procedures.
  • Assist with billing tasks, including time entry, preparing invoices, and tracking payments, in coordination with the firm's accounting department.
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal assistants to support the overall goals of the firm and ensure efficient workflow.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working as a legal assistant or in a similar administrative role within a law firm or legal department is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and document preparation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment.
