Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Department Manager to oversee the operations of our client in Greenville, NC! The successful candidate will manage a team of legal professionals, ensure the smooth execution of departmental functions, and contribute to the strategic goals of the firm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Train and onboard new team members.
  • Organize and oversee the schedules and work assignments of the department's staff.
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Handle disciplinary actions and terminations as necessary, in accordance with company policy.
  • Plan and organize daily activities related to production and operations.
  •  Measure productivity by analyzing performance data and activity reports.
  •  Coordinate with other support departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
  •  Utilize strategic methods to provide support to attorneys and paralegals.
  •  Determine labor needs to meet production goals.
  •  Assist with or prepare and update the organization's operations manual and policies.
  •  Monitor and review department work to ensure quality service and compliance with applicable policies and best practices.
  •  Measure team performance, communicate goals to the team, and motivate team members to achieve these goals.
  •  Resolve customer complaints and grievances in a timely and effective manner.
  •  Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a managerial role within a law firm or legal department.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth knowledge of the legal industry and specific departmental functions.
