Job Description
Everstaff is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant for a prominant law firm in Forth Worth, TX!
Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Accurately prepare and edit both legal and non-legal documents.
- Manage and track deadlines using CompuLaw.
- Maintain both paper and electronic client files using iManage, the firm's document management system.
- Communicate with clients, county clerks, courts, vendors, and attorneys to obtain or provide necessary information.
- Prepare and submit expense reports.
- Request payment for client-related expenses.
- Assist attorneys with various client billing tasks.
- Perform a range of tasks essential to meeting client needs.
- Take and transcribe dictation for legal documents.
- Enter attorneys' billable time in Juris.
- Handle e-filing and e-recording with various state courts and agencies.
Experience/Skills:
- Proficiency in law, legal procedures, protocols, and the court system, with a solid understanding of commercial litigation (e.g., calendar deadlines, motion practice).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with different personalities and interact effectively with all personnel.
- Competence in operating office equipment.
- Knowledge of notary rules.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. Willingness to work overtime, travel, and occasionally work late nights or weekends as required.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat, iManage (document management software), Juris (time entry), and knowledge of oil and gas title opinions.(Preferred)
Education:
High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalence Certificate is required. An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Experience in the oil and gas litigation industry is a plus.
