Job Description

We are seeking a full-time litigation paralegal for a direct hire opportunity in El Paso, TX. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in all aspects of case preparation and file management, from inception through settlement or trial. This includes courtroom assistance and the setup of electronic equipment during proceedings.
 
Salary: $55 - $70k

Responsibilities:
 
  • Assist in preparing cases for trial, closings, estate handling, tax returns, and other legal functions while adhering to ethical requirements.
  • Review and analyze matters to prepare evaluations and status reports for attorneys and clients.
  • Assist with all phases of discovery, trial preparation, and trial support by reviewing and analyzing cases.
  • Draft various legal documents including complaints, answers, notices, affidavits, motions, subpoenas, and petitions.
  • Establish and maintain pleading indexes, attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, and document indexes.
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and resource people, arrange inspections, and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Conduct research to locate cases, depositions, opinions, reports, and relevant information.
  • Perform legal research tasks using various resources, including libraries and computer systems.
  • Operate standard office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, personal computers, and typewriters.
  • Review and summarize medical records, deposition transcripts, and other relevant documents.

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certificate highly recommended. Minimum of 3 years of on-the-job experience required.
  • Knowledge of legal principles and practices acquired through formal paralegal training or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under time constraints.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to proofread for errors.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for communication with clients, attorneys, and staff.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • Ability to handle high levels of mental effort and strain while managing multiple cases.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and irregular hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally and statewide as needed.
