Job Description: The Plant Manager (PM) position entails overseeing operations within a fast-paced pallet recycling facility focused on sorting, repairing, storing, receiving, and shipping pallets from CHEP. The role requires exceptional communication and computer skills, strong leadership abilities, and the capability to motivate and direct a diverse workforce. The PM will manage up to 100 hourly and clerical employees engaged in various tasks such as pallet sortation, repair, painting, disposal, shipping, and receiving. Fluency in Spanish is essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Report directly to the Director of Operations.
  • Manage direct reports including the Assistant Plant Manager, Production Supervisors, Maintenance staff, and Shift production personnel.
  • Achieve production objectives, budgets, and standards including Standard Work Practices, production standards, scheduling, quality, shipping and receiving, inventory management, safety, and sanitation/housekeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with CHEP requirements, including Standard Work Methods, Process Control Plan (PCP), Lean efficiencies, 6S compliance, and any mandated or contractual requirements.
  • Handle employee discipline, pest control, recycling programs, sanitation/housekeeping programs, quality compliance, training, transportation issues, facility maintenance, security issues, and company/3PL best practices.
  • Manage clerical functions, recordkeeping, facility inspections, and product integrity issues.
  • Oversee accounting functions such as budget compliance, plant profitability, supply accounts and purchasing, pallet inventory accountability, consumable accountability, and payroll reconciliation.
Additional Duties:
  • Assist in covering vacations and handling HR issues.
  • May involve some travel.
  • Conduct training for production employees and assist maintenance staff as needed.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in plant management, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Fluent in Spanish (Preferred).
