Job Description
- Maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, outside production, and finished products.
- Record quality results and document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into the quality database.
- Interact with internal and external customers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.
- Visually inspect, test, or examine parts to ensure conformance to prints and specifications.
- Recommend the reprocessing of low-quality products.
- Read prints and other specifications to obtain product information.
- Verify dimensional accuracy using micrometer calipers, veneer height gauges, dial indicator gauges, plug gauges, or other measuring devices.
- Process customer returns through the RMA process and maintain calibration records.
- Create PPAP layouts and oversee the completion of first article inspection reports.
- Promote process improvement and manage processes to enhance manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a quality control role.
- Supervisor or leadership experience preferred.
- Willingness to make changes and improvements.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to report quality results effectively.
- Excellent documentation skills and ability to promote process improvement.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 procedures required.
- Hands-on experience with a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is a must.
- Familiarity with ISO programs, PPAPs, RMAs, and customer returns.
- Must be willing to be on feet for up to 10 hours a day.
- Ability to oversee one employee and handle quality emails and reports.
- Strong hands-on approach to quality control.
- Ability to go from machine to machine, inspecting die castings in all phases of the operation.
- This is a hands-on role that requires being on the shop floor the majority of the time. The right candidate will not be confined to a QC office but will actively engage in the inspection and quality assurance processes.
