Job Description

The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating the company’s core accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, and banking activities. This position collaborates closely with key departments and also serves as a resource for accounting guidance and support across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage AR activities, including posting customer payments, processing non-routine debit/credit memos, and recommending delinquent accounts for collection or write-off.
  • Oversee AP processes—review and code invoices, post transactions, match purchase orders, apply credits, and generate weekly payment proposals. Address vendor inquiries regarding payments.
  • Prepare and process bank deposits, perform daily bank reconciliations, assist with cash forecasting, and reconcile petty cash and credit card activity.
  •  Manage Assets Under Construction, ensuring accurate capitalization and depreciation per policy.
  •  Maintain cost accounting systems to support accurate inventory valuation, including excess and obsolete inventory accruals.
  •  Coordinate payroll processing by validating hours, overtime, bonuses, and deductions, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
  •  Prepare standard and ad hoc journal entries with appropriate documentation. Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers in accordance with GAAP, ensuring monthly accruals are accurate and up to date.
  •  Support timely month-end close processes and assist in preparing financial statements.
  •  Complete monthly account reconciliations and generate ad hoc reports as requested.
  •  Submit required filings including workers’ compensation, Ohio CAT, Ohio Use Tax, and other regulatory reports.
  •  Assist in company-wide budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
  • 1–3 years of cost accounting experience (preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized
  • Comfortable working independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach
  • Professional demeanor with a high degree of integrity and discretion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
