Job Description
Everstaff is partnering with a well-established, full-service law firm seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join its Finance team in the Miami office. This position plays a key role in supporting daily financial operations while contributing to process improvements, compliance initiatives, and scalable financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced professional services environment.
Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and analytical schedules.
- Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Maintain and update general ledger activity, including reviewing and correcting misclassifications.
- Process accounts payable transactions and coordinate payment releases to vendors.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation.
- Coordinate state and local tax filings (business license, sales and use tax, property tax) across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor tax deadlines and maintain compliance calendars.
- Support external tax advisors during annual tax preparation and financial statement review.
- Reconcile and ensure compliance for trust/IOLTA accounts.
- Assist with audit support, surveys, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
- Participate in annual budgeting processes and provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation, technology, and workflow enhancements.
- Lead and manage the unclaimed property process, including review of outstanding checks and state reporting requirements.
- Assist with development and documentation of standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in a medium to large law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, depreciation, and amortization.
- Experience with tax reporting, trust accounting, and compliance processes.
- Proficiency in accounting systems; experience with legal-specific software such as Aderant is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, data analysis).
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset and interest in continuous improvement and process optimization.
