Job Description

We are seeking a talented Trademark Attorney for a direct hire opportunity. 

Salary: $145 - $165k, full benefits, M-F 1st shift

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and nurture new client relationships. 
  • Oversee both new and existing client relationships. 
  • Perform preliminary (SAEGIS) and comprehensive trademark availability searches using U.S. and international databases and third-party vendors. 
  • Prepare and prosecute U.S. trademark applications, statements of use, notices of allowance, renewals, descriptions of goods and services, specimens, transfers and assignments, and responses to office actions. 
  • Handle international trademark prosecution through the Madrid Protocol, Paris Convention, and correspondence with foreign associates and trademark offices including WIPO.
  •  Manage brand protection efforts, including reviewing trademark watch notices and the USPTO Official Gazette, researching potential infringements, drafting protest letters, and monitoring follow-up and closure.

Requirements:
  • Law degree from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum of 5 years as a practicing attorney.
  •  5-10 years of relevant experience. 
  • A portable book of business worth at least $350,000
  • Licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia or Michigan, and admitted to the USPTO
  • High intellectual capacity with a quick understanding of complex legal issues, demonstrated through relevant work experience. 
  • Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to task completion. 
  •  Proven commitment to working hard in a fast-paced setting.
