Warehouse Associate

Job Summary

The warehouse associate position covers a wide variety of tasks within the Warehouse to fulfill customer product requirements in a safe manner while maximizing productivity.  This includes operating machinery, driving forklift trucks, assisting the overhead crane operators, assist in shearing material, weighing, banding, and packaging materials for shipment; fabrication of wooden skids and cutting wood for finished goods and general housekeeping in the warehouse.  Training will be provided for each job in the warehouse.    All employees are required to follow all safety rules and procedures and are responsible for proper care and use of all tools and equipment in their area.

Duties and responsibilities

• Assisting shipping department with weighing, banding, and packaging materials
• Operate Overhead cranes
• Utilize ERP system for data management.
• Maintain all aspects of product quality including selection and appearance of material, dimensional tolerance, weight, piece count and pre-process, in-process, and post process inspections.
• Assist with handling quality issues.
• Report machine malfunctions 
• Operate packaging equipment and all warehouse equipment in a safe and reliable manner.
• Report all equipment failures to immediate supervisor as needed.
• Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
• Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, etc.
• Assist in other areas on as needed basis.
• Other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

• Prior Forklift Truck Experience (optional)
• Remote Overhead Crane experience is ideal
• Accurately use precision measurement equipment such as calipers, tape measure, micrometers, etc.
• Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred)
• Shear machine operation experience (optional)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with Steel (preferred)
• Basic computer skills such as data entry and retrieval.

2. Good mechanical aptitude

• Intermediate level math, mechanical and computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow processes and procedures.
• Plan and prioritize workload.
• Communicate with management and co-workers in an effective manner.
• Maintain neat and orderly conditions in work are and help maintain and promote safe conditions throughout the facility.
• Operate assigned equipment in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.

2. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to the manufacturing areas and office spaces.

Physical requirements

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
