Pay Rate: $20 - 23 per hour; based on experience

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of welding techniques, procedures, and the application of welding equipment for fabricating ferrous and non-ferrous components in a manufacturing environment. The Welder will be responsible for fabricating components using proper techniques, procedures, specifications, and detailed drawings while ensuring all work meets industry and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Follow all welding safety protocols, using appropriate protective equipment against weld arcs, airborne dust, and fumes.
  • Perform welding operations using GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW processes in all positions.
  • Fabricate and assemble components based on technical drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  • Pass and maintain qualifications from a Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) for welding processes, material types, sizes, and positions.
  • Perform open root pipe welds in all positions using various filler metals.
  • Apply pulse, short arc, and spray welding modes to meet required specifications.
  • Conduct welds that pass all Nondestructive Testing (NDT) methods, including mechanical, optical, penetrating radiation, electromagnetic, and ultrasonic testing.
  • Ensure the proper selection and use of weld wire, gases, and materials per drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect interior and exterior surfaces of welds for defects such as cracks, undercuts, and lack of penetration.
  • Maintain proper pre-heat and interpass temperatures using temperature indicators, including temperature crayons, surface pyrometers, and thermocouples.
  • Weld open root butt joints with and without back purging in pipe sizes ranging from 1” OD to 72” OD.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, upholding company values and mission.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by shop supervision.
Physical Requirements:
  • Strong visual acuity to inspect weld details at various distances.
  • Ability to move freely within a manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to carry and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing and frequent stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Ability to work safely around welding arcs, grinding dust, welding fumes, and overhead obstructions.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency in creating and depositing welds per fabrication codes and standards.
  • Strong understanding of welding principles, defect prevention, and welding discontinuities.
  • Ability to perform in and out-of-position welds on piping systems while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Knowledge of handling techniques for maintaining weld cleanliness on carbon, stainless, and high-alloy steels.
  • Skilled in using shop tools, including electric grinders, die grinders, fuel-air heating torches, and overhead cranes.
Education and Work Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in high-pressure pipe welding.
  • Ability to pass the following weld tests:
  • 6G position GTAW Root/GMAW-P fill and cover weld test in P-1 carbon steel.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
